Is This the Right Pad for You?

Honest answers to help you understand what makes organic cotton pads different — and whether they're right for your body.

Most conventional pads are made from a blend of plastic, rayon, and synthetic fibers — then bleached with chlorine and treated with artificial fragrances to mask odor. The top layer that sits directly against your skin is often a petroleum-derived plastic film, not a natural material.

Organic cotton pads like OCBON use 100% certified organic cotton as the contact layer — the same material used in medical dressings and infant products. There's no chlorine bleaching, no synthetic fragrance, and no plastic surface against your skin.

The practical difference: organic cotton breathes. It allows airflow rather than trapping heat and moisture, which reduces irritation, bacterial growth, and the general discomfort many women accept as normal during their period — but don't have to.

Very likely yes — and there's independent testing to back that up. OCBON pads earned an Excellent grade from the German Dermatest, one of the most respected dermatological testing bodies in the world. That means patch testing showed no redness, itching, or sensitization — including on reactive and sensitive skin types.

The most common irritants in conventional pads are:

  • Chlorine and dioxin residues from bleaching processes
  • Synthetic fragrances that disrupt the vaginal pH balance
  • Artificial dyes used for coloring or printing
  • Plastic top layers that trap moisture and heat

OCBON pads contain none of the above. If you've experienced rashes, itching, or irritation with conventional pads, the cause is likely one of these ingredients — and switching to an organic cotton pad will remove all of them at once.

Match the pad to your flow, not just your preference for thin. Using a pad that's too small for your flow increases leak risk; using one that's too large on lighter days is unnecessarily bulky. OCBON offers three sizes designed to cover every stage of your cycle:

Regular
25cm · 32 count
Light to medium flow, first or last days of cycle
Large
28cm · 28 count
Medium flow, active days, extra coverage
Overnight
35cm · 20 count
Heavy flow, nighttime, postpartum

All three sizes are ultra-thin at just 2–3mm and include secure wings. If you're unsure, start with Regular for day use and Overnight for nighttime — this covers most cycles without needing all three.

Yes — in two meaningful ways: what goes into making them, and what happens after you use them.

Production: OCBON's Texas organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilizers for a minimum of three years. Conventional cotton is one of the most chemically intensive crops in the world — organic farming eliminates that impact at the source. Processing uses total chlorine-free (TCF) methods, removing dioxin-producing chemicals from the supply chain entirely.

After use: Conventional pads contain up to 90% plastic and take an estimated 500–800 years to break down in landfill. OCBON pads are made from biodegradable natural materials that decompose far faster. While no disposable pad is zero-waste, the difference in environmental burden over a lifetime of use — approximately 11,000 to 16,000 products — is substantial.

OCBON's supply chain is also verified by the Organic Content Standard (OCS), which independently traces the organic cotton from Texas farms all the way to the finished product — so the environmental claims are certified, not just marketing.
